I have a kenwood TS440s with the 2 chips for digital/CAT fitted (I have 2 sets of chips, tried both) and a CAT cable.
No matter what I try I can not get CAT control to work.
I have fitted the chips, connected the cable, checked port evrerytime, reset radio many times (A=B and power buttons) and still no go.
Has anyone got any ideas?

I use MSHV for ft8 ect. and it works fully.
Still got to look at WSJT-X as PTT does not work yet. lol
That confirms it was the signal inversion issue and not the radio or chips. Good info on using the 74HC04 inverter board with the fake FTDI adapter. This should help someone else with the same TS-440S CAT problem.
Thank you for the update!
For WSJT-X PTT, I would double-check the RTS/CTS or try CAT PTT vs RTS PTT in the radio settings. Since MSHV is working.
Will have a further look at the wires for CTS and RTS again sometime soon.
Just enjoying having it connected for now lol.

I would first check that your CAT cable is the correct type for the TS-440S. The TS-440S does not use a basic serial cable; it needs the proper Kenwood/IF-232C style interface.
Also make sure you are using the ACC1 6-pin DIN port, not ACC2.
Try these settings:
4800 baud, 8 data bits, 2 stop bits, no parity, no handshake.
If that still does not work, I would suspect the cable/interface before the radio or chips.
